No, this is not essential. We don’t expect you to come fully equipped on day one. You will only need dance shoes once you move up to improvers level and begin spinning. Always wear comfortable shoes. Trainers or stilettos are not suitable, particularly if you tread on a few feet to begin with!
No. Simply wear comfortable clothing that you can move easily in. Salsa and bachata are all about feeling the passion so feel free to wear clothes that put you in the mood for dancing!
No. We can provide you with a partner. You can also dance with the instructors. Whilst dancing you will rotate, partnering with different people. This not only makes learning the steps more fun but you will get to mingle with so many different people, all interested in the same thing, exotic dancing! Don’t worry about getting too close to someone you don’t know as everything is done very respectfully.
Don’t worry as that is normal. Even the most talented and skilful dancers feel nervous at times. You will find the atmosphere very relaxed and friendly so you will soon relax and fit right in. There is no pressure to get things right so just enjoy and have fun! We are here to make you feel welcome and to keep coming back to see us every week.
You think that you cannot dance but how will you know unless you try? We make the whole course simple so that anyone of any age can join in. Before you know it, you will be following some routines and dancing like you were born to it! You will be amazed at how quickly you pick up the routines and the more you relax, the more easily you will soak up the knowledge.
Every person is different so there is no set time for you to become a skilled dancer. The more you dance and the more you enjoy it, the faster you will learn. You may never be as good as your instructor (and no, we are not big headed!!) but everyone has a hidden dancer inside of them.
You just need to let yours out :)!
Although it is best if you attend lessons on a regular basis, you will not miss out if you cannot make it some weeks. This is because we structure the lessons in a flexible way, enabling you to pick up where you left off. Consider us your one-stop-shop for all things salsa and bachata related, dropping by when you can.
You need to book online via our website. This way, you can be sure that you will have a place in the class and we can ensure that the group is a good size for teaching. We are moving towards making everything online so that no-one gets missed out of a group and we know when to expect you.
Our dance classes are suitable for anyone from age 18 to 80. There is no age barrier at all. We teach students of all ages so as long as you are mobile and have no major health problems, you can attend salsa lessons. If some of the activities are a little tough for you, you can always sit them out and join in again later. Never let age hold you back, after all, you are as old as you feel and dancing salsa and bachata is a great way of keeping young!
The dances of bachata and salsa are fun, fast, energetic and sensuous. Both are incredibly sociable dances and the great thing is you don’t need to bring a partner. We rotate with different people whilst dancing so dancing with someone that you have never met before is not only fun but is a great way of learning the steps. This is one of the reasons why dancing salsa and bachata is such a popular activity.
Salsa is more fast paced and sexy with a lot of quick turns. Bachata is slower and danced with intimacy so it is often considered a romantic dance. Both are suitable for everyone. If you are not sure which one to book, take a look at a few videos online of each one. Imagine yourself as the dancer and imagine how it will feel. Soon you will be feeling so excited you will have to book quickly!
Sure we can:
1. Both dances are easy to learn. You do not need to have danced before nor do you need any particular fitness level. Anyone of any age and background can be dancing salsa or bachata well within just a few months.
2. Salsa is fast paced and high energy. When you dance salsa, you get a good cardiovascular workout and will generally become more fit. You should find your body becoming more supple and your energy levels increasing.
3. Bachata is slower and more intimate. It will still keep you fit and supple as you master the twists and turns with your body.
4. Both dances are fun and sociable. Whether you have a partner or not, you will meet people from all over London who have the same interests as you.
Yes, you can book online and work with an instructor of your choice! In fact, if you book a package you can also mix and match instructors. You will then receive an email notification, confirming the location and time of your lesson. You can also add any specific instructions about your booking. When booking private lessons, you can be at any level, even a complete beginner.
Absolutely! Female instructors can role-play and lead or follow as and when required. Because a female dancer knows what it is like to be led, she makes an excellent teacher. Your instructor will show you how to lead and follow, making the lessons easy to understand.
