Bachata dance has grown immensely in popularity, as has been proven by the increasing demand for classes available at Salsatropical. Whilst it used to be that salsa dance was our most popular offering, now clients are getting equally excited about learning to dance the bachata.
Meet Antoni and Belen – World Bachata Masters Champions
One thing that has added to the popularity of bachata dance is the performances of the bachata world champions, Antoni and Belen. Previously dancing solo, the pair have now formed a partnership and are working together.
With this in mind, we have invited the couple to our London workshop to teach a lesson and perform on Saturday, 22nd of October 2022. This is already proving to be an extremely popular class with pupils signing up to watch this world-class duo perform and receive unique instruction in the art of bachata dance.
Antoni and Belen careers
For those who may not know the careers of Antoni and Belen, let’s look at what they have accomplished so far. Two of the best bachata dancers in the world, they have been evaluated by experts and awarded championship status as World Bachata Masters Champions. Belen received the award in 2019 and Antoni in 2020. To receive this award, both bachata dancers had to fulfil the following:
- Expertly illustrate the best way to dance bachata
- Become the stars that will spread the art of bachata dance
- Enable the growth of bachata throughout the world
The dancers were selected by an expert jury who evaluated their technique, timing and acrobatics. The panel of judges is always made up of successful bachata dancers who have had careers worldwide. They danced to music that was 100% bachata with no additions. Because they did not know the music in advance, the bachata dance given was improvised, enabling the judges to select the most skilled dancers.

Antoni and Belen won the award of World Bachata Masters Champions whilst dancing with other partners. Now, in the year 2022, have come together to dance expert bachata as a couple.
Those attending the class given by them on the 22nd of October 2022 at our London studio will not only experience the duo dancing to a live audience but will then benefit by receiving unique instruction in the art of bachata dance.
